Sponsor A Child
Access to education should never depend on a family’s income, yet for many children in Kenya, financial barriers make consistent schooling difficult. School fees can force families to make incredibly hard decisions, sometimes delaying a child’s education or alternating attendance between siblings so that each child has the opportunity to learn over time.
The Akoo Foundation partners closely with local families and school leaders in Kenyan communities where we have long-standing, personal relationships, to help ensure children can remain in school consistently and continue their education without interruption. Child sponsorship is a shared effort: families remain actively involved in their child’s education, while school leaders work alongside us to ensure each student is supported and progressing well, while you get regular updates of their progress.
What does sponsorship cover?
The average cost to sponsor a child is approximately $230 per school year at the schools we work with. These schools serve communities where costs are intentionally kept as low as possible to remain accessible.
This amount typically includes:
$150 for school fees, textbooks, and examination fees
$80 for a required school uniform
Sponsors receive regular updates on their sponsored child’s academic progress, including photos and end-of-term report cards. We value transparency, accountability, and connection, and we hope, when possible, that sponsors would make an effort to join one of our trips to visit Kenya and meet the students, families, and school communities they directly support.
